Tina Mene, a distinguished South African soprano, has been captivating audiences with her operatic prowess since 1997. Her journey began under the tutelage of Wendy Fine, before joining the Cape Town Opera’s Choral Training Programme.
Mene honed her craft at the South African College of Music, UCT, earning a performer’s diploma in opera. In 2004, she joined Cape Town Opera’s Young Artist Programme, gracing productions such as “The Magic Flute”.
A versatile artist, Mene has been a member of The Black Tie Ensemble and has taken on leading roles in contemporary works, including Neo Muyanga’s “Heart of Redness” (2015).
Her talent continues to garner international recognition. Most recently, Mene was awarded a prestigious scholarship to the Berlin Opera Academy’s summer programme, running from June to August.
Mene’s journey from Cape Town to Berlin exemplifies the rising prominence of African talent on the global operatic stage.
