Abdoulaye Gueye is a Sociology professor at the University of Ottawa and the author of several academic books, including Aux Nègres de France la patrie non reconnaissante and De la dépendance vis-à-vis de l’Occident au besoin d’une diaspora africaine. He has also edited works such as A Stain on our Past: Memory and Slavery and Africa Confronts Development. In addition to his academic work, Abdoulaye is a fiction writer, with his first novel titled Oublier l’amère patrie. He has served on the Board of Directors of the African Studies Association (2000-2003) and was the Francophone editor of the Canadian Journal of African Studies for several years.

He is the recipient of several fellowships, including the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, the Hutchins Center at Harvard, and the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship. Abdoulaye has been a visiting professor at institutions such as the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris and Marseilles, the University of Ghana, and Université Paris Cité.

Currently, he is a resident fellow at STIAS.
